Human of the week: Jake Burrmann, the man behind the beard…

Jake Burrmann, 27 years old, born a Washingtonian, raised in the good ol’ Bay Area, and undoubtedly one of the dorkiest people I know, in a good way of course.  When Jake isn’t immersed in music (which doesn’t take too much, since he stands about 5’3) hes pursuing his other loves; Star Wars, DC comics (Batman and Green Lantern mostly), movies of all kinds, horror novels, video games (not often though) and cartoons.

Jake started his career in music in 2001 when he helped form Man’s Decline, a Melodic/Thrash/Death Metal band.  In 2004 Man’s Decline split and Jake spent the reminder of the year as one of the guitarists of Thrash/Death Metal band, Artillery Hell.  In 2005, after taking a short break from the Bay Area metal scene, Jake, along with vocalist Victor Hernandez, guitarist Rich Sharman, and bassist Will Ramirez started the Death/Core Metal band, Repaid in Blood.

Repaid in Blood’s first demo got them a spot on Death Royalty Records in the Fall of 2007, in 2008, they recorded their full-length debut titled “Follow the Blood Trail”(which can be purchased on iTunes) at The Blue Room recording studio with E. Hill, as well as released a music video for “Blood Trail”.  As of February 2010, Repaid in Blood added the talented Juan Galvez to their ranks, as their new drummer.  According to the band, Juan adds an intensity and a new fire to their songs, and has managed to learned more than a live sets worth of songs, in only a couple of months.  Presently, Repaid in Blood is hard at work on new material for their second album, and are preparing to record, for the second time, at Castle Ultimate Studios in the summer.  Keep an eye open for upcomming shows all around the Bay Area on their Myspace and Facebook.
